Dischem Vacancies – Sales Assistant

Dis-Chem Baby City is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Sales Assistant for the Carlswald store. The role is centered on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring high merchandising standards while supporting the daily operations of the store.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Up to 6 months of retail experience

  • Minimum of 1 year general work experience in a retail environment

Advantageous

  • Certificate or qualification in Retail Business Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Report low, damaged, or expired stock to management promptly

  • Assist with general stocktaking and counting of inventory

  • Support with the loading and off-loading of stock as required

  • Ensure unpacked boxes are flattened and taken to designated areas

  • Maintain neat and full product displays at all times

  • Monitor and restock shelves to maintain merchandise availability

  • Check that stock has not reached its sell-by date

  • Ensure all pricing and promotional signage is accurate and up to date

  • Build promotional displays on time and take down expired promotions

  • Provide customers with product knowledge and friendly service

  • Handle merchandise with care to prevent losses

  • Process payments accurately, including cash, card, vouchers, and loyalty programs

  • Ensure all outgoing stock is properly scanned and paid for

  • Assist customers with stock inquiries and escalate where necessary

  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management

Competencies

  • Proficient in English with strong communication skills

  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Good numerical ability and attention to detail

  • Knowledge of retail operations and processes

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Reliable, honest, and accountable

  • Strong time management and customer service orientation

Special Conditions of Employment
