About the Program

FlySafair is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Certified Aviation Technician to support aircraft maintenance operations and ensure the continued airworthiness of the fleet. The role focuses on performing advanced technical inspections, fault diagnosis, and maintenance activities while maintaining strict compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.

Job Description

The Senior Certified Aviation Technician will perform a variety of aircraft maintenance tasks to ensure operational safety and reliability. Responsibilities include:

• Conduct line maintenance inspections on aircraft.
• Perform routine inspections on various aircraft avionics systems.
• Carry out fault finding and perform corrective actions based on identified faults.
• Complete thorough daily aircraft inspections to identify potential defects or technical issues.
• Perform required maintenance tasks to ensure aircraft remain airworthy and compliant with aviation standards.
• Follow established maintenance procedures, operational guidelines, and safety protocols at all times.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately recorded and signed off according to SACAA requirements and legal compliance standards.
• Comply with health and safety regulations to ensure personal safety and the safety of all personnel, including fire prevention and accident/incident prevention procedures.
• Ensure that work areas, equipment, and tools are properly maintained and safe before starting maintenance tasks to prevent damage or operational incidents.
• Apply analytical thinking and technical troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of faults and implement effective solutions.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of maintenance activities.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (Essential).
• Trade Test Certificate in an Avionics-related field such as Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician, or Aircraft Radio Technician recognised by SACAA (Essential).
• Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with SACAA WI, W2, and W3 certifications (Essential).
• B737-800 system course certification (Essential).
• B737-8 (MAX) system course certification (Advantageous).
• Oxygen systems course certification (Advantageous).
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in aviation maintenance (Essential).
• Experience in both Line Maintenance and SVM operations (Essential).
• Previous experience working on B737-800 avionics systems (Essential).
• Experience with B737-8 (MAX) avionics systems (Advantageous).
• On-the-Job Training experience (Advantageous).
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
• Willingness to travel locally or internationally at short notice when necessary.
• Valid South African passport and driver’s licence.
• Strong understanding of technical aircraft documentation and publications, including SWPM.
• Thorough knowledge of aviation regulations and safety standards.
• Good understanding of avionics schematic systems.
• Advanced troubleshooting and technical knowledge of B737-800 systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
