Rand Water Vacancies – Senior District Aide
Job Summary: Rand Water is seeking a proactive Senior District Aide to support the District Superintendent in maintaining pipelines, valves, meters, and other water reticulation equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in plant operations and pipeline maintenance, along with strong supervisory capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pipelines, valves, and meters to ensure optimal functioning of the water reticulation system.
- Supervision and Support: Assist the District Superintendent and provide guidance to the maintenance team during projects and operations.
- Site Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of the pipeline network to identify and address any issues promptly.
- Grounds Upkeep: Maintain and manage the upkeep of district grounds, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Excavation and Inspection: Supervise excavation activities and ensure the proper inspection and maintenance of district equipment and machinery.
- Vehicle and Equipment Checks: Inspect district vehicles daily, ensuring that all necessary tools and equipment are available and in good working condition.
- Emergency Response: Participate in standby duties and respond promptly to any emergency situations affecting water supply and distribution.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- 5 years of experience in plant operations or related field.
- Proven ability to perform maintenance on pipelines and water reticulation systems.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Valid Code EB/B driver’s license.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of general maintenance procedures and water reticulation systems.
- Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to implement safe working practices.
- Supervisory Skills: Experience in leading a team and managing maintenance projects.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
