Senior/Leading Firefighter

Fidelity Group is seeking experienced Senior/Leading Firefighters to respond to and manage various fire-related incidents.

The key responsibilities of this role involve responding to fire incidents, emergency rescue operations, providing basic medical care, participating in fire prevention and training activities, and maintaining firefighting equipment and apparatus. As a Senior/Leading Firefighter, you will be tasked with ensuring the protection of lives and property for Fidelity Group’s clients while operating under guidance and supervision.

Key Responsibilities (not an exhaustive list):

  • Respond to fire incidents, rescues, and other emergency and non-emergency situations.

  • Handle hazardous substance incidents and manage hazardous materials.

  • Extricate and release casualties, performing emergency operations as directed by senior personnel.

  • Provide resuscitation and treatment to injured persons while conducting emergency operations as needed.

  • Operate firefighting equipment to manage and extinguish fires effectively.

  • Undertake fire protection duties in high-risk situations and ensure appropriate equipment is available.

  • Prepare for emergency incidents and protection duties under supervision and guidance.

  • Participate in training drills, simulations, and physical fitness exercises.

  • Train relevant personnel on the theory and practice of firefighting.

  • Advise on preventative and corrective actions, conducting health and safety inspections as necessary.

  • Perform regular maintenance checks, cleaning, and testing on firefighting vehicles and equipment to ensure readiness.

  • Maintain computerized occurrence logs for daily incidents.

  • Ensure all equipment, machinery, and vehicles are operating effectively during emergency incidents.

  • Assist with fire and safety training, fire safety inspections, and public education.

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by conducting necessary safety inspections and ensuring all protective clothing and policies are followed.

  • Maintain compliance with equipment maintenance schedules and carry out repairs when possible to ensure operational readiness.

  • Complete shift-related administrative duties as required by departmental policies and orders.

  • Undertake supervisory and functional personnel-related tasks.

Qualifications, Experience, and Other Competencies Required:

  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

  • IFSAC Accreditation.

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification.

  • At least 2-3 years of firefighting experience and related training is essential.

  • Valid code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.

  • Advanced driving experience is advantageous.

  • Physically and medically fit.

  • Strong understanding and experience in fire prevention procedures.

  • In-depth knowledge of fire-fighting systems, including the chemistry of fire and extinguishing techniques.

  • A clear criminal record.

  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.

  • Strong administrative, interpersonal communication, and customer liaison skills.

  • Essential Hazmat experience and knowledge.

  • EMT Certification and First Aid (Levels 1 to 3).

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of Hazmat guidelines.

  • Knowledge of the security industry and how to operate within the Group’s code of conduct and regulatory requirements.

  • Thorough understanding of firefighter instructor responsibilities and applications in an operational setting.
