Standard Bank is seeking a dynamic and highly analytical Senior Portfolio Manager to play a pivotal role in managing high-value client portfolios, driving equity research, and delivering exceptional asset management and client engagement. This role is central to expressing and implementing the investment house view across sectors and securities, while actively contributing to portfolio construction, monitoring, and strategy development.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of sophisticated clients, ensuring a high-touch service experience and deepening trust through consistent performance, strategic insight, and tailored investment advice. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert with proven ability to navigate complex markets, interpret macroeconomic trends, and guide clients with clarity and conviction.
Minimum Qualifications

Postgraduate degree (4-year) in Investment Management, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a numerical/analytical discipline such as Mathematics or Science

CFA qualification (completed or in progress) is a mandatory requirement

FAIS regulatory exams (completed) are compulsory
Experience Requirements

Proven experience in senior portfolio management, ideally within asset management or private wealth segments

Demonstrated ability to manage discretionary mandates for High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs)

Strong leadership capability and a record of sound investment decision-making

In-depth understanding of financial markets, sector analysis, and portfolio performance attribution

Experience working with wealth managers and relationship managers in a collaborative environment

Manage client portfolios aligned to the house view and individual investment mandates

Lead and participate in the equity research process, contributing sector-specific insights and stock recommendations

Shape and uphold the firm’s investment philosophy and ensure its integration into portfolio strategies

Act as a strategic partner to wealth managers and relationship managers, providing insights that support business growth

Deliver a high-touch client experience by building lasting relationships and acting as a trusted advisor

Ensure rigorous compliance with client investment mandates and regulatory standards
