Flysafair is seeking a qualified Senior Safety Officer AOC to oversee and manage safety audits, investigations, and risk management processes within the aviation industry. This role requires a dedicated individual who can drive safety improvements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Job Description

Lead and coordinate both internal and external safety audits, ensuring all safety measures are met.

Identify latent hazards and carry out thorough risk management analyses to mitigate potential risks.

Investigate, analyze, and determine the root cause of hazards, incidents, and accidents.

Ensure the operator has effective mitigation measures in place to address identified safety risks.

Maintain the internal safety data system, monitoring and analyzing trends related to hazards, incidents, and accidents.

Continuously monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incidents, and accidents.

Stay informed on safety concerns within the civil aviation industry and assess their potential impact on FlySafair operations.

Oversee the organisation’s aviation safety programme and address all safety-related matters.

Collaborate with the training department to ensure that safety training is provided to employees when necessary.

Investigate all incidents and accidents involving FlySafair’s assets and distribute safety reports accordingly.

Provide weekly operational updates to the Manager: Aviation Safety.

Work with security personnel to ensure full implementation of the security programme.

Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to monitor aircraft component reliability and ensure service provider audits are performed.

Support the implementation of the organisational emergency response plan.

Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with compliance-related audits.

Distribute safety bulletins and promote safety awareness throughout the organisation.

Lead safety meetings with relevant personnel and ensure that safety equipment is operational.

Conduct regular safety risk audits to identify areas of improvement.

Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging teamwork and enhancing the performance of direct reports.

Assist with the administration of the OHSE programme in collaboration with the OSHE Officer.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Supervise and manage external stakeholders on all matters related to safety.
Job Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
-
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the Airline/Aviation industry, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience (Essential).

Experience in incident investigation (Essential).

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Current/Expired) (Essential).

Certification in Human Factors in Aviation (Essential).
-
“Train the Trainer” qualification (Essential).
-
Safety Management Systems for Aviation certification (Essential).
-
Lead Auditor certification (Essential).
-
Experience in Accident and Incident Investigation (Essential).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
