Supply Chain Manager (Production Planning) – Parmalat, Western Cape

Lactalis South Africa is looking for a skilled Supply Chain Manager (Production Planning) to join our team at the Western Cape offices. This is a high-impact role responsible for managing and coordinating the manufacturing plans across multiple categories and plants to meet customer demand while aligning with the company’s stock build and operational strategy.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in aligning Commercial, Industrial, and Supply Chain functions through integrated planning, while also driving continuous improvement across production and supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Integrated Business Planning (S&OP) process by coordinating the manufacturing of key SKUs across plants in alignment with demand forecasts and stock build strategies

• Prepare short-term weekly production plans across all product categories and manufacturing facilities

• Allocate raw milk daily across plants and categories to meet production requirements while reducing waste, transport inefficiencies, and misallocations

• Automate the raw milk allocation decision-making process to enhance efficiency and accuracy

• Plan replenishment to Distribution Centres by optimizing available space and ensuring appropriate days-of-cover for inventory

• Define inventory coverage at DC level per SKU, taking into account forecast accuracy, shelf life, and lead time to minimize waste and maximize customer service

• Develop tools and systems to automate production planning processes and reduce manual intervention

• Drive the continuous improvement of the S&OP framework within Lactalis South Africa, ensuring robust alignment between departments

• Facilitate weekly demand review sessions with the Commercial and Demand Planning teams to support improved sales forecast accuracy, working capital efficiency, and demand fulfilment

• Coordinate weekly capacity reviews with Industrial and Supply/Production Planning to enhance planned vs. actual performance and overall plant efficiency

• Manage long-term raw material (raw milk) allocation to optimize customer demand fulfilment, production efficiency, and profitability

• Collaborate with Commercial teams to enhance promotional volume planning and product launch phasing

• Contribute to long-term volume forecasts that feed into quarterly and annual financial and capacity planning

• Champion the use of business intelligence tools and analytics to elevate supply chain effectiveness and visibility

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain or production planning within a manufacturing environment

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills

• Able to work under pressure, manage complexity, and drive performance across cross-functional teams

• Self-motivated and adaptable with strong planning and prioritization capabilities
