Parmalat Vacancies – Tax Manager
Parmalat, part of the international Lactalis Group, is looking for a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team in the Western Cape. This role is essential in providing expert tax advisory services to Lactalis Southern Africa and the Australe Africa region, including Zambia, Botswana, eSwatini, and Mozambique. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with VAT, tax legislation, and audit requirements, driving strategic tax efficiencies across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
Taxation Compliance and Advisory

Provide tax guidance across Southern and Australe African operations, ensuring adherence to all local tax regulations

Manage provisional and final tax computations and returns for South Africa and applicable AA countries

Partner with finance teams to optimize tax planning and improve compliance

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional tax laws and maintain strong relationships with local tax authorities
Transfer Pricing

Prepare and maintain Transfer Pricing Documentation for Zambia, Botswana, Mozambique, and South Africa

Implement transfer pricing compliance in eSwatini under new legislation

Manage and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for shared services

Ensure proper application of Withholding Tax and manage relevant returns, including consultancy fees, royalties, and interest

Review and apply Double Tax Agreements (DTAs) across all relevant jurisdictions
Indirect Tax and Levies

Oversee VAT preparation, reconciliation, and audits in South Africa and AA countries

Manage Sugar Beverage Levy submissions and refund processes

Handle carbon tax calculations and annual submissions

Ensure compliance with Reverse VAT (RVAT) regulations in Zambia

Review customs documentation for legal compliance
Audit and Financial Reporting

Support the Annual Financial Statements (AFS) preparation process

Participate in both interim and final external audits

Provide tax-related inputs for Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) reporting
Minimum Requirements:

BCom in Accounting with Tax as a major; post-graduate qualification in Taxation

4 to 6 years’ post-qualification experience in a tax advisory role, ideally within the FMCG sector

In-depth knowledge of VAT and corporate tax regulations in South Africa and other Southern African countries

Strong relationships or familiarity with regional tax bodies is an advantage

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

High attention to detail with strong analytical and decision-making ability

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure environment
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
-
Willingness to travel regularly to AA countries
