Purpose of the Role
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant supports all mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, and tyre maintenance. The role includes conducting tyre surveys, responding to roadside breakdowns, and ensuring that vehicles are cleaned before leaving the depot.

Key Responsibilities

Tyre Maintenance and Duties

• Strip and fit tyres as required

• Maintain and adjust tyre pressures to correct specifications

• Ensure all smooth or damaged tyres are replaced

• Complete and manage tyre change slips

• Torque wheel nuts after tyre changes

• Conduct regular tyre surveys and implement corrective actions

• Maintain a clean and organised tyre bay and tools

• Drive to sites to attend mechanical and tyre-related roadside breakdowns

• Manage tyre stock and ensure proper storage

Workshop Support

• Assist with general mechanical repairs, vehicle services, and maintenance tasks

• Support the team in workshop operations and breakdown response

• Help complete job cards, service schedules, and parts listings

• Assist in managing spare parts and tyre stock

• Maintain clean and organised work areas, including the workshop, parts store, tyre store, and washbay

Washbay and General Duties

• Wash and clean vehicles thoroughly before dispatch

• Adhere to the company’s dress code and grooming standards

• Maintain daily housekeeping across all work areas

• Follow all Health and Safety protocols applicable to the role

• Support other operational tasks as directed

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Experience in mechanical work and tyre maintenance

Key Skills

• Basic understanding of Health and Safety procedures relevant to workshop functions

• Ability to recognise potential hazards and respond appropriately with guidance
