Value is looking for an experienced and driven Warehouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a warehouse facility. The role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high standards of customer service, controlling costs, and managing staff performance. This position requires a strategic thinker who can manage end-to-end warehouse operations, including stock control, system performance, and customer expectations, while contributing to the overall success of the business.
Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Manager is accountable for managing all aspects of an assigned account or operational area to meet business objectives, deliver excellent service to customers, optimise profitability, and lead a high-performing team. The role involves responsibility for operational execution, people management, financial oversight, and quality assurance in line with Value’s standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management

Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are understood, documented, implemented, and continuously monitored

Utilise and oversee the functionality of relevant business systems

Optimise warehouse layout and storage to ensure maximum space efficiency

Ensure daily cycle counts are conducted to maintain inventory accuracy
-
Oversee scheduled stock takes and ensure compliance with both Value and customer expectations
-
Ensure timely checking and put-away of all inbound stock
-
Resolve stock or system-related queries within 24 hours

Analyse operational performance and implement process improvements

Prepare, analyse, and submit required reports to senior management within designated timeframes
-
Maintain up-to-date WIP reports and ensure all proof-of-delivery documentation is tracked

Enforce discipline and adherence to operational procedures among staff
-
Ensure orders are accurately picked, packed, and dispatched on schedule in line with company protocols

Monitor and prevent claims by reinforcing accuracy and accountability
-
Maintain product and delivery point master data integrity

Ensure IT systems are functional and effectively support operations
-
Foster strong, professional relationships with customers
-
Handle and resolve customer queries, complaints, and feedback
-
Align customer expectations with the warehouse’s service capabilities
Staff Management
-
Ensure adequate staffing through effective recruitment and workforce planning
-
Develop succession plans for critical roles within the warehouse
-
Monitor and evaluate employee performance and provide regular feedback
-
Oversee leave management and timekeeping processes
-
Promote skills development through ongoing training and mentorship
-
Address HR-related concerns, including initiating IR processes when necessary
-
Maintain accurate HR and payroll records, including job profiles, performance reviews, and time sheets

Motivate staff to increase productivity and reduce unnecessary overtime
Quality, Health & Safety, and Compliance

Monitor, report, and manage customer KPIs monthly
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all warehouse functions
-
Implement and manage QMS procedures in line with company and regulatory standards
-
Encourage daily use of the non-conformance reporting system to improve operations
-
Ensure timely closure of all NCRs/NCPs/IOs within five working days
-
Support achievement of QMS targets and objectives
-
Uphold health and safety standards in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
-
Complete monthly safety checks and maintain housekeeping standards
Financial Oversight

Manage warehouse budgets and ensure spending aligns with financial targets
-
Control operational costs and reduce unnecessary expenditure
-
Monitor and report on operational profit and loss monthly
-
Make cost-effective operational decisions that also enhance productivity
-
Authorise and recover sundry billing where applicable
-
Evaluate and provide input on monthly operating expenditure
-
Maintain low levels of overtime with a focus on elimination where possible
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Relevant qualification in supply chain or logistics (certificate, diploma, or degree)

3–5 years of warehouse experience, with at least 3 years in a management role
