Position Summary

Job Overview
Value is seeking a highly capable and driven Workshop Manager to lead and manage workshop operations, ensuring maximum service efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This role is key in overseeing staff performance, workshop productivity, job planning, and operational compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Supervise and manage workshop staff, ensuring adherence to time and attendance protocols, productivity goals, and PPE compliance.

  • Conduct performance appraisals, identify training needs, and implement staff development initiatives.

  • Lead regular staff meetings and feedback sessions to maintain a customer-focused environment.

Workshop Operations & Planning

  • Drive daily planning and control of Work in Progress (WIP).

  • Ensure optimal use of workshop resources and capacity.

  • Coordinate with Service Advisors and the Parts Department to ensure timely availability of parts.

  • Monitor workshop efficiency, ensuring all work aligns with OE service schedules and requirements.

Customer Service

  • Maintain strong communication with internal and external customers regarding vehicle service progress.

  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Workshop Administration

  • Ensure accurate data entry in Embrace, including job details and relevant documentation.

  • Maintain compliance with all administrative SOPs.

  • Process job cards and quotations correctly and timeously.

  • Manage filing and document submission in line with company standards.

Reporting

  • Monitor and report on job card and purchase order status daily.

  • Submit all reports to management as per agreed timelines.

Asset Management

  • Oversee maintenance and management of workshop assets.

  • Report asset losses or damage and follow proper procedures for asset disposal.

Recoveries and Warranty

  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of recovery billing and warranty claims.

Financial Oversight

  • Manage workshop operations within budgetary guidelines.

  • Support management with profit and loss reporting and cost controls.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure the availability and proper use of tools and equipment.

  • Conduct regular spot checks to uphold service quality standards.

Apprenticeship Programme

  • Oversee the national workshop apprentice programme, ensuring skill development and mentorship.

General Duties

  • Maintain professional conduct and align with all company SOPs.

  • Ensure daily housekeeping and adherence to health and safety protocols.

  • Provide operational support as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • 3–5 years of experience in Workshop or Field Service Management

  • Diesel Mechanic qualification is advantageous
