Forklift Technician – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Job
The Forklift Technician is responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of forklifts and related equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. The role includes stripping and assembling components, diagnosing faults, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring all work is completed in line with OEM specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Maintenance Duties

Inspect and evaluate forklifts and equipment for defects prior to repairs

Compile technical reports outlining required repairs and maintenance scope

Identify and list spare parts required for repairs

Strip, clean, and assess components for wear and damage

Assemble and reassemble components using new or serviceable parts

Diagnose system and component failures and discuss findings with the Team Leader or Workshop Foreman

Record all work performed, parts used, and time taken on job cards

Service and repair forklifts in accordance with OEM specifications and maintenance schedules

Perform standby and after-hours breakdown duties as required
Operational Support and Compliance

Maintain required productivity and efficiency standards

Monitor, train, and support workshop assistants and semi-skilled artisans

Report unsafe equipment or working conditions to the Team Leader or Workshop Foreman

Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures at all times

Assist with operational tasks as required by the business

Maintain professional conduct and comply with company dress code standards

Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop

Ensure strict compliance with Health and Safety requirements
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Red Seal qualification
-
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant technical experience advantageous
