Site Controller – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Site Controller represents Value Logistics on-site by managing fleet operations, controlling costs, and ensuring efficient delivery planning. This role is responsible for coordinating vehicles, drivers, and staff to deliver reliable service levels while meeting client expectations for productivity, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Vehicle Management

Manage vehicle servicing schedules and ensure fleet roadworthiness

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and overall condition standards

Coordinate the hiring and utilisation of ad-hoc and replacement vehicles

Monitor daily vehicle tracking and movement
-
Control and manage vehicle workshop and repair costs
Debriefing & POD Control

Monitor operational statistics and ensure PODs meet company and client standards
-
Ensure all driver debriefing documentation is completed and submitted
-
Manage POD returns and respond to customer POD-related queries
-
Analyse trip sheets on vehicle arrival and reconcile movement reports
Administration & Cost Control

Compile and maintain site operational reports

Record and manage breakdown incidents and corrective actions

Control wages by accurately recording staff working times
-
Schedule staff and vehicles to maximise productivity and utilisation
Accident & Compliance Management
-
Complete all accident and incident documentation in line with company requirements
-
Coordinate regular driver training to reduce damages and incidents
-
Ensure timely renewal of driver PDPs to maintain legal compliance
-
Manage driver fines and take corrective action where recurring trends are identified
Planning, Dispatch & Operations

Plan and dispatch all local loads departing from the site

Oversee delivery planning and staff scheduling to achieve optimal load utilisation

Coordinate receiving and dispatching of stock

Manage route planning including vehicle allocation, driver scheduling, and delivery sequencing
Daily Operations & Reporting

Maintain accurate filing of reports, queries, repairs, and maintenance records
-
Manage breakdowns and claims efficiently
-
Compile and submit daily operations and dispatch reports in line with client requirements

Maintain driver and vehicle files and records
-
Prepare weekly wages, kilometre, fuel, and cost reports
-
Control vehicle checklists, daily statistics, and fuel usage
-
Receive stock from client facilities and ensure accurate handover
-
Supervise on-site staff to ensure compliance and performance
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
2 to 3 years’ experience in a logistics or transport environment
Skills & Competencies
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
-
Strong planning and coordination skills
-
Fleet supervision and operational control experience
-
Effective staff supervision and leadership abilities
