Tyre Maintenance Controller – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Tyre Maintenance Controller is responsible for travelling to various sites to conduct routine tyre maintenance, tyre surveys, and attend to tyre-related breakdowns across the Value Logistics fleet. This role ensures tyre safety, compliance, availability, and optimal performance in line with company standards and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Tyre Stock Control

Ensure tyre stock is secured and locked at all times

Assist with daily discrepancy investigations and reporting

Participate in monthly tyre cycle counts
Tyre Surveys & Inspections

Travel to assigned sites as required
-
Prioritise tyre surveys and maintenance based on fleet lists provided

Conduct daily tyre surveys using the approved tyre management system and manual documentation when required
-
Accurately capture tyre data including brand numbers, wheel positions, pressures, and tread depth
-
Ensure all vehicles and spare wheels are surveyed monthly
-
Report missing spare wheels and spray spare rims for easy identification

Ensure wheel nuts are torqued correctly and wheel nut indicators are fitted

Capture and submit photographs of scrap tyres

Provide daily feedback to the supervisor on surveys completed, issues identified, and productivity
Tyre Branding
-
Identify and report tyres without brand numbers
-
Brand tyres in line with approved listings and procedures
Tyre Replacement & Rotation

Identify and replace worn, punctured, or damaged tyres in accordance with SOPs
-
Perform tyre rotations based on tread matching requirements
-
Accurately complete tyre change slips and submit them daily
Breakdown Support

Ensure breakdown support vehicles are stocked with correct tyre sizes and quantities
-
Attend tyre-related breakdowns promptly and with urgency
-
Complete breakdown reports and tyre change documentation
-
Return damaged tyres and documentation to the depot and supervisor
Company Equipment & Asset Control

Secure tyre maintenance tablets when not in use
-
Complete and submit daily vehicle checklists
-
Ensure vehicles are parked, locked, and keys secured after each shift
-
Report vehicle accidents, damages, or incidents immediately
-
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order
-
Submit weekly tyre bay tool checklists and report defects
Housekeeping
-
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and company vehicle
Health & Safety Compliance

Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations
-
Use prescribed PPE at all times
-
Report health, safety, and near-miss incidents immediately
General Duties
-
Comply with all company procedures, policies, and codes of conduct
-
Support additional operational requirements as needed
-
Be available for weekend work when required
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Code B driver’s licence
-
1 to 2 years’ experience in heavy-duty tyre maintenance
-
Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
