Driver Trainer – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Role
The Driver Trainer is responsible for delivering structured and effective driver training to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant driving practices across operations. The role focuses on developing driver competence through initial and ongoing training, practical assessments, coaching, and continuous evaluation in line with safety, operational, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Training and Assessment

• Assess the competence of new and existing drivers through theory and practical evaluations

• Conduct scheduled training sessions, including soft skills and lifting equipment training

• Communicate and manage training schedules with management and ensure adherence

• Provide coaching and mentoring to drivers to improve performance and competency

• Conduct on-route driver assessments and practical evaluations

• Verify that all drivers hold valid driver’s licenses and PrDPs

• Maintain accurate attendance registers and training records

• Update and manage driver files on the learner management system

• Capture and update assessment and training data on internal systems

• Provide detailed feedback to stakeholders on driver assessments and training outcomes

Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Facilitate training interventions aligned to the TETA scope and requirements

• Assess learners fairly, consistently, and accurately in line with TETA standards

• Use clear and understandable language, providing additional support where required

• Conduct site audits and route inspections to ensure vehicles meet required standards

• Support vehicle dispatch processes where necessary

• Maintain professional conduct and ensure compliance with company dress code and SOPs

• Uphold housekeeping standards and ensure adherence to Health and Safety requirements

General Support

• Assist with operational functions as required to support business needs

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Code EC driver’s license with a valid PrDP

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Code EC driver

• Proven experience as a driving instructor

• TETA registered Assessor

• Clear driving and criminal record

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Unit Standards Required

• Operating vehicle combination (Superlink and articulated vehicles)

• Operating rigid heavy vehicle

• Operating rigid light vehicle

• Dangerous goods handling

• Warehouse lifting equipment operation

• Firefighting
