Back Door Specialist

Purpose of the Job
The Back Door Specialist is responsible for visiting allocated retail stores and distribution centres to ensure efficient back door operations and minimise operational failures. The role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with stores, distribution centres, and internal operational teams, while identifying, managing, and resolving issues between back door operations and Value Logistics functions.

Key Responsibilities

Operational and Relationship Management

• Build, manage, and maintain effective working relationships with store back doors and distribution centres

• Conduct on-site visits to each assigned back door at least once per month

• Gain a thorough understanding of back door processes, including receiving, dispatch, and returns, to ensure compliance and smooth stock flow

• Maintain and update back door and distribution centre requirements on a monthly basis

Issue Resolution and Performance Improvement

• Provide operational support to back doors by identifying challenges and coordinating resolutions with relevant Value Logistics operations

• Ensure all required actions are driven to completion within agreed deadlines

• Monitor, improve, and optimise turnaround times at the back door

• Manage and support the smooth processing of bookings, escalating potential risks that may delay vehicle offloading

• Drive the implementation and use of technology and system integrations to improve procedures and efficiency at back doors

• Manage and enforce procedures aimed at reducing stock returns

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Logistics, Warehousing, or Supply Chain qualification advantageous

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail and distribution centre back door operations, including audits and resolving delayed offloading

• Own reliable transport
