Tyre & Mechanical Assistant
Purpose of the Job
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant supports workshop operations by assisting with mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, tyre maintenance, and roadside breakdowns. The role ensures vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and clean before leaving the depot, while maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Tyre Operations

Strip, fit, and replace tyres as required

Maintain correct tyre pressures on all vehicles

Conduct regular tyre surveys and implement corrective actions

Replace worn or smooth tyres and complete tyre change documentation

Ensure wheel nuts are torqued to specification

Maintain accurate control of tyre stock

Clean and maintain tyre bay tools and equipment
-
Travel to sites to attend to tyre and mechanical breakdowns
Workshop Support

Assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, maintenance, and breakdowns

Support all workshop-related operational activities

Complete job card service schedules and parts listings when required

Assist with the control of spare parts and tyre inventory

Maintain cleanliness of the workshop, parts stores, tyre stores, and wash bay
Wash Bay and General Duties
-
Ensure vehicles are washed and cleaned before leaving the depot

Support operational functions as required

Comply with company dress code and Standard Operating Procedures

Maintain daily housekeeping standards
-
Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety requirements
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Previous mechanical and tyre-related experience
Skills Required

Ability to apply basic Health and Safety procedures under supervision

Ability to identify hazards and follow corrective instructions effectively
