Job Purpose
Join DHL Global Forwarding, the world’s leading air, ocean, and road freight specialist, as a Business Development Manager. You will drive business growth by developing and executing strategies that generate new business, maximize profit, and expand market share in line with company objectives, policies, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business

Manage and grow a defined portfolio of existing customers, identifying additional and renewal business opportunities

Establish customer profiles, assess needs, and present customized solutions to maximize revenue potential

Conduct research on market dynamics to identify opportunities for new project business
-
Develop and maintain project solutions for existing and new customers, including high-quality presentations of non-standardized solutions
-
Plan, strategize, and execute sales activities to achieve budgeted targets and growth objectives
-
Maintain an accurate pipeline in Salesforce and ensure customer commitments are communicated to operations
-
Collaborate with internal teams and the global bid team on complex project bids
-
Support interdepartmental relationships to achieve shared goals and corporate objectives
-
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and instructions
-
Apply structured work methods, manage risks, and contribute to process improvements within the organization
Requirements
-
Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in business development within the transport, logistics, or freight forwarding industry
-
Proven track record in new business acquisition, account management, and revenue growth
-
Knowledge of all modes of transportation within South Africa and neighboring countries advantageous
-
Strong skills in sales proposals, contract negotiation, CRM (Salesforce), project management, stakeholder management, and market research

Experience in pricing, trade lane strategy, tender management, and road freight products
-
Excellent presentation, storytelling, communication, and influencing skills
-
Ability to conduct face-to-face business development calls and achieve measurable targets
-
Commercially astute with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
