Description
Operate and maintain the forklift safely and efficiently, ensuring cost-effective handling of stock. Provide excellent customer service, support merchandising standards, manage shelf price labelling, and maintain housekeeping within your designated area.
Requirements
-
Grade 12 or minimum 1 year relevant work experience
-
Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
-
Basic numeric skills
-
Physically fit to operate a forklift
-
Valid forklift license
-
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
-
Ability to work under pressure
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
-
Greet and assist all customers professionally
-
Advise customers accurately on products and services
-
Handle product queries and resolve complaints promptly
-
Promote additional services: delivery, bulk deposits, glass cutting, plan reading, credit programmes, special orders, trusses, distant ordering, and VIC Customer Programme
-
Ensure customers’ purchases are loaded safely and without delay, avoiding damage to goods or vehicles
-
Maintain product knowledge certification and be available in your aisle of responsibility
Merchandising Standards

Merchandize bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms
-
Ensure your area is fully merchandised and stocked as per approved layouts
-
Maintain accurate shelf pricing within your responsibility
Housekeeping
-
Keep aisles clear of obstacles and ensure safe access for customers
-
Immediately merchandize stock after receipt
-
Complete daily checklists including canteen and toilet/shower schedules
Ready for Business
-
Follow all Ready for Business and Beyond My Control procedures as per the CB Way
Loss Prevention and Security
-
Identify and report gaps in displays or suspicious behaviour
-
Ensure no product is loaded for customers without proof of purchase or required documentation
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
-
Operate the forklift within safe load limits
-
Do not overload racking or shelving (e.g., no more than two pallets high for roof tiles, bricks, or cement)
-
Wear safety helmet and kidney belt at all times while operating the forklift
-
Never lift personnel with the forklift
-
Keep entrances and exits free of obstacles
-
Report forklift faults immediately and schedule timely servicing
-
Wear protective clothing when required
-
Conduct daily forklift inspections and complete checklists
