Role Overview

The Manager: Security Control Room is responsible for leading the Security Operations Centre team in monitoring, identifying, analysing, reporting, and responding to field security operations. This role provides strategic and operational oversight of SOC activities, Field Security Operations, and client service delivery to ensure all service outcomes are achieved within agreed Service Level Agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Security Operations Centre function to ensure effective 24/7 security monitoring

  • Oversee the performance of the SOC Operator team, including training, certification, performance management, and disciplinary processes

  • Manage first-line monitoring of all systems within the Physical Security Operations Centre

  • Detect, analyse, and respond to security incidents, including attempted burglaries

  • Recommend and implement system and procedural improvements to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness

  • Compile month-end reports, statistics, and analysis for Senior Management meetings

  • Investigate all confirmed incidents using RCAT methodology and ensure closure to prevent repeat occurrences

  • Communicate investigation outcomes clearly to the team and relevant stakeholders

  • Initiate corrective and disciplinary actions based on investigation findings

  • Ensure consistent compliance with security procedures, standards, and best practices

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Management or a Security-related qualification at NQF Level 5

  • PSIRA Grade A certification

  • Security Systems Certificate

  • 5–7 years’ experience in a control room or security operations environment

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role leading teams

  • Proven experience in drafting procedures and work instructions

  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and guide team members

  • Experience with Patriot security systems, including monitoring and system management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • High resilience with the ability to remain calm in high-pressure or emotional situations

  • Strong emotional intelligence and sound judgment

  • Proficiency in Google applications

  • Solid understanding of incident management processes

  • Good knowledge of system networks and security technologies

  • Willingness to work shifts and travel when required
