Professional Nurse (PWUD Project) – Anova Vacancies

Main Purpose of the Role
Provide quality healthcare services to People Who Use Drugs (PWUD), establish effective linkage to care channels across facilities, manage client healthcare needs, and ensure treatment adherence and completion.

Role Deliverables

ART Initiation, TB, HEP B & C, and NCDs Linkage to Care

  • Initiate all diagnosed HIV-positive clients on ART daily
  • Build and maintain relationships with health facilities to ensure proper linkage to care
  • Utilize local health facilities for clinical supplies and treatment
  • Ensure clients who test positive for HIV, TB, HEP B & C, and other NCDs (Diabetes, Hypertension) are linked to care, monitored, and complete treatment
  • Manage a cohort of clients, ensuring viral suppression and treatment adherence
  • Submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly case management and related reports
  • Conduct follow-ups for clients in the cohort and provide monthly cohort management reports
  • Maintain daily records and reconcile clinical materials and ART medication from facilities
  • Report ART initiations to the project manager and M&E officer
  • Keep accurate monthly inventories of medical supplies, equipment, and drugs

Outreach Clinical Services

  • Assess HIV prevention and care needs for each client and develop care plans with the Site Coordinator, Linkage Nurse, HTS Counsellors, and Linkage Officers
  • Coordinate and implement mobile healthcare activities for PWUD
  • Deliver outreach clinical services including HTS, STI and TB screening, sputum/X-ray collection, STI treatment, wound care, ART, PEP, PrEP, adherence support, NCD screening, sexual and reproductive health services (including cervical cancer screening and family planning), and referrals for specialist services
  • Ensure HIV-positive and TB-positive clients receive treatment until completion
  • Adhere to National Department of Health guidelines during all outreach activities
  • Support ART adherence and viral suppression for all positive clients

Project Support and Administration

  • Conduct daily reviews of HTS and ART registers
  • Participate in weekly project meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date follow-up registers and ensure clinical follow-ups are completed
  • Attend to referrals from peer educators, site coordinators, social auxiliary workers, and project managers
  • Provide oversight to HTS counsellors, linkage officers, and social auxiliary staff
  • Update clinical records and registers: Referral, Linkage, ART, HTS
  • Provide statistics for delegated portfolios
  • Manage drug supply and HIV RDTs according to Good Pharmacy Practice
  • Monitor HTS data and ensure targets are achieved
  • Validate successful referrals and monitor referral outcomes
  • Participate in networking and stakeholder engagement meetings
  • Familiarize with Anova policies relevant to the role
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and sensitization sessions as required

Organisational Support

  • Counsel and train staff on clinical ethics
  • Stay updated with clinical developments, trainings, policies, and procedures
  • Support goal-setting and quality service delivery interventions
  • Ensure all medical equipment and clinical supplies are functional and available
  • Adhere to Health and Safety and Infection Control policies
  • Implement quality assurance programmes including Ideal Clinic Realisation and Maintenance (ICRM) and National Core Standards (NCS) with guidance from Aurum
  • Assist with assessments and implement Rapid Test Continuous Quality Improvement (IQC and Proficiency Testing for HIV RDTs)
  • Attend meetings, briefings, and staff sessions regularly
  • Drive self and team to work sites following Anova vehicle policy

Qualifications and Experience

  • Dispensing Certificate required
  • Professional Nursing qualification with NIMART training
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project or operations management
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in HIV or public health environments
  • Ability to update and maintain data registers accurately
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in a local language
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
  • Innovative, organized, analytical, with strong data interpretation skills
