Main Purpose of the Role

The Branch Manager is responsible for managing branch staff, clients, and operational deliverables in alignment with organizational objectives. This role ensures optimal use of resources to deliver exceptional client service while maintaining strong financial performance, profitability, client retention, and operational excellence with a client-centric approach.

Job-Related Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 5 years’ managerial experience within the logistics or courier environment
  • Strong sales, operations, HR, and industrial relations knowledge
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, charts, and formulas
  • Sound understanding of profit and loss management and financial reporting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the LRA and BCEA
  • Ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues at all organizational levels
  • Strong time management, punctuality, and daily planning skills
  • Excellent administrative capabilities
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment and evolving technology
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work beyond normal business hours
  • Flexibility to travel as required
  • Own reliable transport and a valid, unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence
  • Strong budgeting and cost management skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and forecast cost trends

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of organizational objectives through effective communication, measurement, and staff motivation
  • Collaborate with shared services to ensure continuous alignment and cooperation
  • Deliver services in line with the organization’s service catalogue and client expectations
  • Manage branch costs and productivity to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, external regulations, and global and local KPIs
  • Achieve bottom-line budget commitments for the branch
  • Identify business risks and opportunities that may impact performance and shareholder commitments
  • Manage employee performance and development to support a sustainable business environment
  • Ensure adherence to operational deadlines and schedules
  • Manage and control branch resources and associated risks
  • Perform all administrative duties relevant to the role
  • Engage with customers at all levels, both in person and telephonically
  • Maintain and continuously improve systems, processes, and operational controls
  • Manage customer dissatisfaction processes, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Actively manage daily operational performance to achieve defined performance targets
  • Ensure all branch and agent vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with legal requirements
  • Drive implementation of all company initiatives within the branch or agency
  • Manage branch fleet operations, including maintenance, condition, and fuel consumption
  • Implement, monitor, and sustain Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental management systems
  • Ensure working processes comply with quality management systems and legal requirements
  • Oversee operations during peak periods at branch level
  • Ensure effective use of financial management tools across branches or agents
  • Review and validate monthly and annual forecasts for accuracy and justification
  • Actively manage branch P&L costs and investigate variances
  • Prepare accurate budgets for the financial year in line with guidelines and local insights
