Job Description

Truworths is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Clerk for OFFICE Banking. Reporting to the Finance Manager: OFFICE Banking and Treasury, this role focuses on managing foreign banking operations (UK), supporting banking systems, and ensuring accurate completion of banking month-end processes. The ideal candidate is a calm, organised team player with strong problem-solving skills, able to meet multiple deadlines and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile all company bank and GL accounts within stipulated timelines and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and timelines for documentation collection from stores regarding queries or discrepancies.
  • Incorporate new business developments into daily reconciliation processes (e.g., new stores, bank accounts, acquisitions, tender types).
  • Liaise with foreign banks (Lloyds, HSBC, etc.) regarding charges and cash banking queries.
  • Resolve all banking queries within permitted timeframes and ensure KPI targets are met.
  • Provide stand-in support for banking team members when required.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Work with other departments to reconcile bank statement lines, including Payroll, Customer Services, Tax, and Accounts Payable.
  • Use banking software (Oracle) to track accounts, balance transactions, and generate reports.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric with solid work experience; post-matric qualifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in a finance or retail environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of general finance processes, including bank reconciliations, foreign currency translation and conversion, bank card queries, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
