TAX & REPORTING ACCOUNTANT
Sea Harvest is seeking a highly skilled and driven TAX & REPORTING ACCOUNTANT to support technically focused finance and tax deliverables within the organisation. This role is responsible for statutory reporting, tax compliance, financial reporting packs, and the optimisation of ERP usage within the finance department. The position works closely with the Finance Manager and contributes to the effective management of all finance functions.
Job Purpose
The TAX & REPORTING ACCOUNTANT will deliver accurate financial and tax reporting, ensure compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements, manage tax administration, and support finance automation and optimisation initiatives across the business.
Key Performance Areas
IFRS Reporting
- Prepare monthly general ledger journals
- Prepare monthly income tax and deferred tax journals
- Support quarterly, half-year, and year-end reporting, including board reporting
- Prepare subsidiary statutory annual financial statements
Budgets and Forecasts
- Prepare forecast and budget balance sheets
- Compile budgeted cash flow statements
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts
Tax Reporting and Administration
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of the Wear and Tear register
- Review and maintain all tax schedules
- Prepare provisional tax calculations for all South African entities
- Prepare and submit responses to SARS tax queries
- Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts
- Maintain South African Group tax opinions
- Manage and maintain the eFiling profile
- Prepare tax returns for all South African entities
- Monitor and manage overall tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, and income tax
General Responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly and annual SARB reporting
- Act as ERP champion within finance, driving automation and optimisation
- Participate in finance-related projects
- Support the Finance Manager in managing the finance department
- Assist with financial year-end processes and external audits
- Manage banking administration and profile maintenance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- CA (SA) qualification
- Minimum of 2 years relevant post-qualification experience
- High level of computer literacy with strong MS Excel proficiency
- Solid IFRS knowledge and practical experience
- Strong interest and experience in taxation
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Excellent understanding of group accounts and consolidations
- Strong team player with a collaborative working style
- Effective interpersonal, decision-making, and communication skills
- Strong planning and organisational abilities
- Innovative, analytical, and conceptually strong thinker
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong business acumen with high levels of drive and initiative
