Job Summary

The Senior Survey Assistant supports the Survey Technologist by delivering specialised engineering survey services to internal and external customers. This role contributes to the achievement of Rand Water’s strategic objectives through accurate field surveying, effective coordination, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with Surveyors
• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and plans

Key Responsibilities

• Locate underground services using electronic pipe locating equipment
• Perform basic survey work including levelling and GPS measurements
• Assist Surveyors during field survey operations
• Conduct on-site measurements using tape, Total Station, and GPS equipment
• Install beacons to accurately mark pipeline positions and servitudes
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and readiness of vehicles and surveying equipment

Knowledge Requirements

• Basic engineering survey techniques
• Measurement methods and field data collection
