Pick n Pay Careers is offering a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to join one of South Africa’s leading supermarket chains as a Trainee Manager Stores. This program provides hands-on experience across various departments and prepares candidates for a future role as a Store Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 (certified copy required)
- 2–3 years’ retail experience advantageous
- 1–3 years’ departmental manager experience advantageous
- Successful completion of at least two competency-based interviews
- Flexible and willing to transfer between stores
- Willingness to undergo full credit and criminal checks
- Valid South African ID (copy required)
- Valid driver’s license (certified copy required)
- Must reside in Western Cape

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence:
- Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards across the store
- Ensure compliance with all security procedures
- Uphold merchandise and display standards
- Conduct regular quality checks and ensure proper stock rotation
- Remove damaged or expired stock to prevent wastage and shrinkage
- Ensure accurate pricing and labelling
Administrative Management:
- Complete all administrative tasks accurately and on time
- Analyse, maintain, and update relevant information and documentation
- Take required corrective actions based on analysis
Sales & Customer Service:
- Plan and implement sales promotions
- Advise customers on products and services, responding to requests professionally
- Monitor budgets and take corrective action as needed
- Analyse departmental profitability and recommend or implement improvements
Inventory & Stock Management:
- Optimise stock levels to maintain availability without overstocking
- Manage ordering and inventory effectively to meet sales demand
People Management:
- Lead and motivate employees to ensure high standards
- Develop a competent and customer-focused team
