Team Lead SC Planner

As a Team Lead SC Planner, you will drive the implementation of operational plans within your planning team to achieve business objectives. You will manage and guide operational planners, ensuring standardized processes, tools, and reports are used to meet KPIs for availability, sales, working capital, and stakeholder engagement. You will also ensure strong integration and communication across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, driving your team to execute sales strategies and trade plans effectively.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of supply chain planning experience
  • Knowledge of DC and store operations and limitations
  • Understanding of category-specific processes and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of business/system rules used by planning teams
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement

  • Understanding operational and financial impact of decisions in supply chain planning
  • Enforcing Pick n Pay planning principles and adhering to operational limitations
  • Driving adherence to SCP KPIs within the team
  • High emotional intelligence and professional attitude
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Effective time management and sense of urgency
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining team motivation
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of IT systems and planning tools such as SAP ERP, F&R, Analysis, and UDF

Strategic Sales & Promotional Planning

  • Ensure compliance with T-planning processes, including promotions, events, and NPD forecasting
  • Align with commercial buyers on forecasted volumes and confirm with vendors as required
  • Support commercial buyers to achieve sales targets and growth within business limitations
  • Manage pending price increases and clearance plans for excess stock
  • Monitor seasonal line sales trends to inform planning decisions

Daily & Strategic Operational Execution

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of accounts in a Supply Chain Planner capacity
  • Ensure use of standardized planning and reporting tools for accurate replenishment and promotional planning
  • Ensure planners identify root causes of poor KPI performance and implement proactive solutions
  • Track category availability and highlight risks to the business, both general and promotional

Continuous Improvement & Standardisation

  • Provide input and suggestions for improved planning processes and ways of working
  • Implement new processes, tools, and reports successfully within the team
  • Drive adherence to standardized planning processes, tools, and reports
  • Clearly communicate and execute the operating plan across the team

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, commercial teams, DC & logistics, and divisional coordinators
  • Collaborate internally to create accurate sales plans aligned with business, category, and promotional strategies
  • Identify root causes of poor strike rates and implement proactive solutions
  • Be available after hours to support emergency queries and risk mitigation

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide clear direction, guidance, and support for your team
  • Identify training needs through observation and consultation
  • Lead by example, adhering to office regulations and professional standards
