About the Program
Value Logistics is seeking a driven Dispatch Supervisor to lead and coordinate all dispatch operations within the warehouse and distribution environment. This role ensures accurate, secure, and on-time outbound logistics while driving continuous improvement, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Purpose of the Job
The Dispatch Supervisor oversees and coordinates dispatch operations related to stock movement, ensuring timely and accurate outbound deliveries. The role supervises dispatch teams, manages KPIs, enforces safety and quality standards, and continuously improves dispatch performance while protecting goods and assets.
Key Responsibilities
Process
- Ensure SOPs are understood, trained, and consistently followed within dispatch
- Utilise business systems to manage, track, and control dispatch processes
- Plan daily outbound dispatch to meet all time-critical deadlines
- Plan staffing levels in line with forecasted volumes to maximise efficiency
- Coordinate picking activities to meet dispatch cut-off times
- Confirm availability of materials and equipment required for dispatch
- Maintain stock and packaging condition in line with product handling requirements
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to documentation, vehicles, seals, and dispatched goods
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve issues within agreed turnaround times
- Coordinate vehicle availability to support on-time dispatch
- Control system-based handovers of stock to downstream operations
- Ensure correct loading practices and securement of goods prior to vehicle departure
- Manage and update the daily Work in Progress report
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date dispatch documentation and filing
- Monitor dispatch reports, communicate outcomes, and drive corrective actions
- Analyse dispatch performance data and implement continuous improvements
Staff Management
- Lead, coach, and supervise dispatch teams to achieve daily targets
- Plan resources effectively to meet operational demand
- Control overtime and authorise only when operationally essential
- Ensure all dispatch staff receive ongoing, relevant training
Quality, Health & Safety, and KPI Management
- Communicate, track, manage, and report dispatch KPIs monthly
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within dispatch operations
- Proactively identify and resolve operational risks
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System procedures
- Raise and close NCRs, NCPs, and Improvement Opportunities within agreed timelines
- Monitor and maintain QMS objectives and performance targets
- Enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements and scheduled safety checks
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and orderliness in dispatch areas
MHE and Asset Management
- Ensure security of the facility, stock, and assets in line with loss control policies
- Track and manage assets to ensure optimal utilisation and upkeep
- Ensure Material Handling Equipment is used safely, responsibly, and efficiently
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Warehouse, or Business Management (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics or warehousing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Skills Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
