About the Role
The Ramp Agent plays a critical role in ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time aircraft turnarounds by coordinating ramp operations, ground handling activities, and service providers while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
Job Description
As a Ramp Agent, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring full compliance with safety regulations, including Dangerous Goods requirements.
- Maintaining general safety and security around the aircraft at all times.
- Liaising between flight crew and ground handlers to obtain passenger boarding clearance.
- Monitoring the loading and offloading of baggage and cargo to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Advising ground handling partners of any load changes.
- Coordinating handling agents and service providers to support efficient turnarounds and reduce delays.
- Conducting ramp safety audits when required.
- Ensuring ramp vehicles are clean, serviceable, and adequately fueled.
- Arranging transport for crew pick-up and drop-off as operationally required.
- Monitoring flight operations to support on-time performance.
- Allocating and recording delays when applicable.
- Assisting with crew requests, including cleaning coordination, water provisioning, and lavatory servicing.
- Ensuring all required service providers are present for each flight, including airport authorities and fuel handlers.
- Performing ad hoc inspections within the baggage handling area.
- Carrying out any duties delegated by the senior on duty.
- Coordinating support for heavy or oversized equipment and cargo, including mobility aids.
- Ensuring adequate staffing levels in line with SLAs.
- Conducting FOD checks and reporting any irregularities related to flight operations.
- Coordinating operations during disruptions to minimize operational impact.
- Monitoring ramp and passenger service KPIs, including boarding gate closure times and equipment positioning.
- Completing ramp agent documentation for every flight.
- Compiling incident and irregularity reports when required.
- Liaising across departments and stations to ensure seamless operations.
- Coordinating with relevant stakeholders to support on-time departures.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an airline or aviation environment, including Passenger Services, Ramp Services, or Baggage Handling.
- Code 08 driver’s licence.
- No criminal record.
- Sound airside knowledge with an understanding of airport operations.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to multitask and delegate effectively.
- Computer literacy.
- Customer-focused approach.
