Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking experienced Cashiers for the One on York (New Store) in George. The role focuses on providing exceptional customer service at point of sale while ensuring accurate transaction recording in line with company policies and procedures, with zero tolerance for errors or fraud.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literate, including MS Office
• Strong numerical skills
• Strong command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all customer service policies and procedures
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain customer turnover hourly rate
• Stay informed on current sales and promotions
• Ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers
• Apply 5-star communication principles consistently
• Manage cash flow accurately
• Ensure line voids and price changes are authorised and approved by a supervisor
• Process authorised merchandise exchanges and returns
• Accurately transact all purchases and payments, including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Process loyalty cards and partner rewards programmes (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks)
• Place cash in drop safe according to standard operating procedures
• Safeguard system access codes and passwords
• Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
• Keep all cash secure in the till at all times
• Handle daily takings confidentially and liaise only with management
• Remain alert and report suspicious behaviour to management
• Address customer queries regarding merchandise
• Adhere to all security policies and procedures
