Division: Bayobab Fixed Connectivity Infrastructure

Mission
The Engineer will form part of the technical design and support team responsible for providing end-to-end technical oversight of Bayobab’s fixed connectivity infrastructure. This role ensures efficient delivery of IP/MPLS services to Wholesale and Bayobab OPCOs while supporting other business units in maximizing infrastructure utilization. The Engineer will drive service excellence, network optimization, and continuous improvement across the global IP/MPLS environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery and implementation of IP/MPLS services to customers, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Monitor the IP/MPLS network and contribute to design, configuration, optimization, and deployment activities.
• Support IP address management strategies across OpCos and the Global Network.
• Contribute to the delivery and lifecycle management of global IP/MPLS products including Peering, VPN, and network security services.
• Develop and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
• Align Quality of Service (QoS) definitions and KPIs across Global and OpCo IP/MPLS networks.
• Support development of policies and procedures governing the Global IP/MPLS network.
• Perform automated offline MPLS traffic engineering to optimize resource utilization and ensure service resilience.
• Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, and technical units to design enterprise-grade, multi-country networks.
• Proactively recommend infrastructure enhancements to improve service availability and reliability.
• Support SLA definition and customer-specific reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide advanced technical support to Global NOC and OpCo operations teams, escalating major issues to vendors when required.
• Act as a technical interface between internal teams and external customers, delivering expert engineering guidance.
• Maintain and update the installed base of networks and products as part of the product catalog.
• Identify infrastructure gaps and contribute to product roadmaps based on market insights and customer requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships, including maintenance agreements, incident management, software deployment, and circuit provisioning.
• Supervise implementation activities including installations, testing, and service handover.
• Provide analytical input for strategy, financial planning, and reporting related to fixed infrastructure IP/MPLS services.
• Manage customer relationships to ensure agreed service quality standards are consistently met.

Education Requirements

• Minimum two-year academic degree in Technical or Engineering discipline, or equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and Arabic is an advantage.

Experience and Competencies

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in international telecommunications wholesale infrastructure, specializing in IP/MPLS network solutions, architecture design, configuration, and testing.
• At least 3 years’ experience with multiservice platforms, routing platforms, and routing protocols including ISIS, RIP, RSVP, OSPF, BGP, and advanced troubleshooting at packet level.
• Strong expertise in TCP/IP networking and MPLS technologies including L2/L3 VPN and traffic engineering.
• Proven ability to manage complex, large-scale networks and optimize infrastructure performance.
• Solid understanding of global telecommunications infrastructure trends and competitive landscape within emerging markets.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market analysis, competitor assessments, and customer performance monitoring.
• Effective process and solution management capabilities to drive operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage partners, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work proactively across diverse cultures and multilingual environments.
• Strong computer literacy and technical documentation skills.
