About the Role
Truworths Careers is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Clerk: Banking to join the finance team. This role requires a strong team player who can manage multiple deadlines, resolve discrepancies efficiently, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, management, and banking institutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely bank reconciliations within a dynamic retail finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile all company bank and general ledger accounts within stipulated timeframes and resolve or report discrepancies
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and timelines are followed when collecting supporting documentation from stores
  • Integrate new business developments, including new stores, bank accounts, acquisitions, and tender types, into reconciliation processes
  • Liaise with local and foreign banks regarding charges, cash banking queries, and discrepancies
  • Resolve all banking queries within agreed timeframes
  • Ensure achievement of all departmental KPIs
  • Provide stand-in support within the banking team when required
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as necessary
  • Assist with banking month-end processes and reporting requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric with solid work experience
  • Post-matric finance-related qualification advantageous

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in a retail finance environment advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of general finance processes, including bank reconciliations, foreign currency translation and conversion, card queries, and discrepancy resolution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Financials, Business Online, Business Online (Africa), and bank reconciliation systems

Technical Competencies

  • Proven experience reconciling bank accounts across multiple entities
  • Ability to interact confidently with management and external stakeholders
  • Strong capability in liaising with local and foreign banking institutions and regulators
  • Ability to handle and resolve queries accurately and timeously
  • Effective coordination of banking month-end functions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines under pressure
