Job Description
Spar Vacancies is seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to drive operational excellence and growth across Build it stores. The role focuses on building strong relationships with regional retailers, staff, and corporate teams while ensuring that stores adhere to brand standards and achieve high performance.

The Retail Operations Manager will support stores in improving market share and profitability, analysing financial performance, and preparing business growth plans. Regular store audits, reporting, and providing insights on industry trends are key responsibilities to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with corporate objectives.

Key Performance Areas

• Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers, store staff, and corporate teams
• Ensure Build it stores comply with minimum format and corporate identity (CI) specifications
• Maintain high standards of excellence scores across all stores
• Support Build it stores in growing market share and profitability
• Analyse retailer business performance and provide actionable recommendations
• Prepare business growth plans for Build it stores
• Conduct regular store audits and circulate reports to retailers and relevant corporate offices
• Advise retailers on modern retail trends and competitive developments in the hardware industry
• Foster collaboration and synergies among retailers and team members

Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification, preferably in Business or Financial Management
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail or home improvement in a senior management role
• Ability to engage at a high business level and inspire both entrepreneurs and corporate teams
• Understanding of the building materials and hardware retail environment and small business challenges
• Ability to analyse financial reports and advise retailers on profitability and business growth
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and intermediate PowerPoint proficiency
• Strong financial acumen, leadership skills, attention to detail, efficiency, and ability to meet deadlines
• In-depth knowledge of hardware and building material products
• Valid driver’s license, South African passport, and willingness to travel extensively
