Job Overview

The VPO Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of the VPO framework within the plant to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The role focuses on strengthening management systems, reducing losses and waste, and ensuring alignment with organizational standards and performance goals.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain compliance with safety standards while fostering a strong safety culture within the workplace.
  • Serve as the Management Pillar Owner for the plant and lead initiatives related to operational excellence.
  • Conduct effective loss and waste analysis to identify gaps between the plant’s management systems and VPO standards.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address identified gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage and review monthly progress on VPO gap closures and performance scores.
  • Conduct quarterly VPO performance reviews and ensure timely reporting and updates to the zone.
  • Coordinate VPO implementation across the plant by working closely with other pillar owners to ensure an integrated improvement approach.
  • Collaborate with the zone VPO team to support monthly and quarterly reporting requirements across all pillars.
  • Identify and develop value-added initiatives to support future improvement commitments and monitor the progress of current initiatives.
  • Ensure plant routine meetings and operational reviews are properly documented and standardized.
  • Work with regional VPO teams and zone management pillar leaders to align plant implementation plans with organizational expectations.
  • Ensure adequate training resources and facilitation capabilities are available to support Management Pillar training requirements.
  • Coordinate and monitor GOP compliance across the plant and submit monthly compliance reports to the zone.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to strengthen performance and capability within the organization.
  • Promote employee engagement and participation in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive and standardize 5S implementation across all plant departments.
  • Oversee the tracking and monitoring of Management Pillar performance and ensure accurate and timely submission of plant VPO information to the zone.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Excellence or a departmental management role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering is advantageous.
