FlySafair is seeking a highly experienced Senior Certified Aviation Technician to support aircraft maintenance operations and ensure the continued safety and airworthiness of the fleet. The role involves conducting inspections, diagnosing technical faults, and performing maintenance activities in line with aviation regulations and company standards.

Job Description

The Senior Certified Aviation Technician will be responsible for carrying out a variety of aircraft maintenance tasks to ensure operational reliability and compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities include:

• Perform line maintenance inspections on aircraft.
• Conduct routine inspections on aircraft avionics systems.
• Identify technical faults and carry out corrective maintenance actions.
• Perform detailed daily aircraft inspections to detect potential defects or technical issues.
• Execute maintenance tasks required to maintain aircraft airworthiness.
• Follow established maintenance procedures and adhere to all safety standards.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities are accurately recorded and signed off in accordance with SACAA requirements and legal regulations.
• Comply with health and safety standards to ensure the safety of personnel and prevent accidents, incidents, or fire hazards.
• Ensure the work environment, equipment, and tools are safe and properly maintained before starting maintenance tasks.
• Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to determine root causes of technical faults and implement effective solutions.
• Communicate clearly with team members to maintain efficient workflow and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (Essential).
• Trade Test Certificate in an avionics-related field such as Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician, or Aircraft Radio Technician recognised by SACAA (Essential).
• Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with SACAA WI, W2, and W3 authorisations (Essential).
• B737-800 systems course certification (Essential).
• B737-8 (MAX) systems course certification (Advantageous).
• Oxygen systems course certification (Advantageous).
• Minimum of 15 years aviation maintenance experience (Essential).
• Experience in both Line Maintenance and SVM environments (Essential).
• Previous experience working with B737-800 avionics systems (Essential).
• Experience working with B737-8 (MAX) avionics systems (Advantageous).
• On-the-job training experience (Advantageous).
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
• Availability to travel locally or internationally at short notice.
• Valid South African passport and driver’s licence.
• Strong understanding of aircraft technical publications and documentation, including SWPM.
• Comprehensive knowledge of aviation regulations and safety requirements.
• Good understanding of avionics schematic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical expertise on B737-800 systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
