Purpose of the Role
The Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, acquiring, growing, and retaining key customers within the assigned region. The role focuses on building strong strategic relationships across diverse customer segments, driving sustainable sales and margin growth, and effectively managing customer accounts to ensure timely payments and long-term business success.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition and Growth
- Identify and recruit new customers within the assigned territory, achieving agreed monthly and quarterly targets
- Develop and expand the existing customer base to meet or exceed sales volume and margin objectives
- Drive continuous business growth through proactive market engagement
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
- Ensure consistent customer engagement through regular visits and communication
- Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence
Sales Execution
- Conduct regular customer visits, including order-taking and product presentations
- Promote new products, services, and promotions to maximize sales opportunities
- Execute marketing campaigns and promotional initiatives in line with business strategies
- Track and report campaign performance against defined objectives
Credit and Debtor Management
- Manage customer credit accounts responsibly
- Ensure debtor days remain within agreed limits
- Monitor payment performance and drive on-time collections
Reporting and Communication
- Capture and report customer feedback to management for continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities using approved systems and tools
- Provide timely updates on market trends, competitor activity, and opportunities
Customer Service Excellence
- Resolve customer queries efficiently within agreed turnaround times
- Maintain professional conduct in all interactions with clients and stakeholders
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales role within the FMCG sector
- Proven track record as a successful Sales Representative
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools
