Responsibilities

  • Support the Area Security Manager in implementing and executing security, crisis management, and business continuity strategies across the Western and Northern Cape regions.

  • Deputize for the Area Security Manager as required, ensuring continuity of security leadership across 16 premises and a workforce of approximately 1,100 employees.

  • Implement comprehensive security plans to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to personnel, assets, facilities, proprietary information, and brand reputation.

  • Oversee and strengthen crisis management and business continuity capabilities, ensuring all premises have current and functional plans.

  • Ensure compliance with country-wide physical security standards, including technological, procedural, manned guarding, and architectural controls.

  • Conduct periodic security self-assessments, bi-annual risk assessments, and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement cost-effective, best-practice solutions.

  • Provide expert advice on security risks for new business ventures and implement risk mitigation measures.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with local and national security, emergency response, law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and other multinational security managers.

  • Deliver security awareness and training programs for associates and security personnel.

  • Advise on security incidents, conduct on-the-spot risk assessments, and support business travelers.

  • Assist in protecting the supply chain (Make/Move/Sell) through effective security plan implementation.

  • Conduct and coordinate investigations, including counterfeit, extortion, contamination, loss reduction, kidnapping, robbery, fraud, corruption, and other security threats.

  • Provide strike operations and labor dispute training for security personnel and employees.

  • Oversee 3P Security providers, manage KPIs, leverage economies of scale, and ensure cost-effective service delivery.

  • Ensure professional development and succession planning for the security team within the area of responsibility.

  • Implement all security policies, plans, and site SOPs while maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience, including at least 3 years in security management within the private sector, preferably in industrial environments.

  • Proven advanced experience in security management and crisis response.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security, Risk Management, or related field.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with working proficiency in English.

  • Ability to work across multiple sites and travel within the country.

  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and remain accessible 24/7.

  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Willingness to undertake additional duties as assigned.
