Job Overview
The Sanlam Financial Adviser is responsible for providing clients with professional, tailored financial advice and solutions. You will grow and maintain a high-quality client base, delivering long-term value through financial planning, product recommendations, and ongoing relationship management. This role focuses on building loyalty, generating new business, and ensuring all activities are compliant and ethical to strengthen the Sanlam brand.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth

  • Drive the growth of the Sanlam Adviser Business according to distribution strategy and marketing plans.

  • Apply market segmentation and customer profiling to support sales and revenue growth.

  • Meet targets for revenue generation (single and recurring premiums) and activity quotas.

  • Promote the Sanlam brand and apply Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles in all client engagements.

Networking and Lead Generation

  • Develop new business through face-to-face interactions, social and business networks, associations, and presentations.

  • Convert trusted relationships into business opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.

  • Generate leads from existing client databases, marketing campaigns, and referrals.

  • Leverage social media and other channels for targeted client engagement.

Client Consultations and Sales

  • Conduct comprehensive fact-finding to identify client needs and priorities.

  • Perform financial needs analysis using relevant tools or with Para-Planner support.

  • Provide tailored financial advice and create balanced financial plans aligned with client goals.

  • Present solutions professionally and ensure compliance with regulatory and TCF requirements.

  • Review client portfolios regularly and update plans to reflect changing circumstances.

Client Service

  • Deliver ethical, professional, and courteous service at all times.

  • Follow up on client queries and ensure timely resolution.

  • Build long-term client relationships focused on loyalty and value.

  • Continuously enhance knowledge of financial markets, products, and industry trends.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track and document contacts, appointments, consultations, issued business, and revenue against targets.

  • Maintain accurate client records and system entries.

  • Report on workflow, activity metrics, and business performance on a weekly and monthly basis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.

  • FAIS “Fit and Proper” requirements met and Regulatory Examination completed.

  • At least 24 months registration with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Financial advisory and planning expertise.

  • Client relationship management.

  • Compliance, risk management, and regulatory understanding.

  • Achievement of production targets and budgeting.
