Clinical Manager – Anova Vacancies
Main Purpose of the Role
The Clinical Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of integrated, high-quality health services through continuous needs assessments and evidence-based interventions. This includes HIV testing and self-screening, PrEP, antiretroviral treatment and viral load monitoring, TB and STI screening and treatment, sexual and reproductive health services, prevention of vertical transmission, post-violence care, and HPV screening. The role ensures strong linkages to care, effective management of client health needs, treatment adherence, and continuous improvement in service delivery in line with NACOSA, National Department of Health, and Global Fund standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Oversee implementation of AGYW/AYP biomedical interventions within the district
- Provide direct line management to the biomedical clinical field team
- Participate in recruitment and selection of biomedical staff
- Identify training needs and support capacity development across all staff categories
- Lead by example and promote knowledge and skills sharing
- Facilitate monthly and ad hoc staff meetings and attend relevant organisational meetings
- Conduct onsite supervision, complete supervisory tools, and submit monthly reports
- Identify and support clinical champions across key portfolios
- Conduct bi-annual performance reviews and monitor staff timesheets
- Collaborate closely with Human Resources to ensure compliance with organisational protocols
Strategic and Operational Implementation
- Implement AGYW/AYP programmes in alignment with organisational and donor strategies
- Ensure compliance with safety legislation, organisational policies, and standard operating procedures
- Adhere to National Department of Health and organisational clinical guidelines
- Support operational planning and manage service delivery indicators and quality improvement initiatives
Mentoring and Technical Support
- Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, including NIMART implementation
- Facilitate complex case discussions with multidisciplinary teams
- Support nurse mentors in training and mentoring activities
- Ensure availability and application of clinical guidelines, SOPs, and tools
- Maintain accurate records of mentoring, supervision, and programme activities
Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance
- Stay current with clinical developments, policies, and best practices
- Set and monitor organisational quality objectives and interventions
- Ensure all medical equipment is functional and infection control standards are upheld
- Implement and maintain quality assurance programmes, including staff assessments
- Oversee rapid test quality improvement initiatives and proficiency testing
- Participate in clinical compliance assessments and conduct regular folder audits
- Ensure effective management of complaints, client feedback, and satisfaction surveys
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing (General, Midwifery, Community, or Psychiatric Nursing)
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council
- NIMART and Sexual and Reproductive Health training
- Primary Health Care clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment experience will be advantageous
Experience
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a Primary Health Care setting
- At least two years’ management experience
- Proven facilitation and capacity-building experience
- Extensive experience in HIV, STI, and TB treatment and care
- Minimum of two years’ community nursing experience
- Experience working with AGYW/AYP will be an added advantage
