Casual Sales Assistant
Dis-Chem Baby City is seeking a Casual Sales Assistant for their Kenilworth Centre store. The primary purpose of this role is to provide exceptional customer service, maintain stock levels, process payments at the Point of Sale, and uphold high merchandising standards.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months’ retail experience
- Minimum 1 year work experience in retail
Advantageous:
- Certification in Retail Business Management
Key Responsibilities
Stock & Merchandising
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged, or expired stock to management
- Assist with stock counts, stock files, and general stocktaking
- Support loading and off-loading of stock as required
- Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and place in designated areas
- Ensure full ranges of products are on shelves, neatly presented, and within sell-by dates
- Restock merchandise to maximise sales
- Ensure merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are correct; report discrepancies
- Keep up to date with new product knowledge to assist customers effectively
- Handle all merchandise carefully to prevent losses
- Build displays for promotions and implement monthly promotions effectively
- Place promotional posters, price tickets, and signage on time and remove them after promotions
Customer Service & Sales
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to all customers
- Establish professional relationships with customers
- Attend to and resolve all customer stock queries
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management
- Transact all purchases accurately, processing payments via cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted methods
- Ensure outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for
- Process all loyalty cards, including accelerated partners
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure accurate cash flow and follow correct cash handling procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
