About the Role
Sanlam Vacancies presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across the full finance value chain. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for driving financial strategy, governance, and reporting excellence while supporting business growth and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning aligned to strategic objectives and key performance indicators
- Drive effective target setting in line with Group Finance principles
- Refresh forecasts regularly to improve accuracy through detailed analysis and performance tracking
- Deliver insightful financial analytics to support executive decision-making and operational efficiency
Financial Control and Close
- Oversee accurate, IFRS-compliant financial statements and ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Manage internal and external audits, maintaining strong internal controls and governance frameworks
- Oversee taxation processes including corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding taxes in collaboration with Group specialists
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive control reviews and risk assessments
Financial Reporting and Governance
- Ensure accurate and timely management, regulatory, and statutory reporting
- Enhance reporting capabilities through improved systems, business intelligence tools, and data governance
- Analyse financial performance trends and support effective cost management
- Prepare annual financial statements, board and audit committee packs, and regulatory submissions
- Uphold governance standards and manage first-line risk processes
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner closely with finance, actuarial, tax, treasury, IT, and business teams across Sanlam, Santam, and MultiChoice
- Contribute to strategic and business-critical projects, including major operational transitions

Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant CA (SA) qualification
Experience
- 8–10 years’ senior management experience within the financial services industry
- Proven experience in managing finance delivery at a strategic level
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and data analytics tools, including SAP, HFM, and PowerBI
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, regulatory frameworks, and taxation
- Excellent technical accounting expertise
- Familiarity with Sanlam financial reporting systems
