Position Overview
Fidelity Vacancies is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Firefighter to respond to fire-related emergencies, provide rescue services, and ensure the protection of lives and property. This role involves supervising and mentoring junior firefighters, operating firefighting equipment, conducting fire prevention activities, and maintaining operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fires, rescues, hazardous material incidents, and other emergency situations
- Extricate and provide emergency care to casualties as directed
- Operate firefighting and rescue equipment to manage and extinguish fires
- Perform fire protection duties under potential threat situations, ensuring the availability and use of appropriate equipment
- Participate in training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness programs
- Train staff on firefighting theory, practice, and safety procedures
- Advise on preventative and corrective measures to enhance safety
- Implement procedures and strategies to protect people, property, and data
- Conduct basic maintenance, inspection, and testing of firefighting equipment and vehicles
- Maintain computerized occurrence logs and departmental records
- Perform health and safety inspections and participate in safety committee meetings
- Drive and operate specialized vehicles and machinery during emergency incidents
- Assist with fire and safety inspections, life safety education, and training drills
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and internal policies
- Supervise personnel and manage line functions during shifts
- Ensure adherence to prescribed equipment maintenance schedules and operational readiness
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- IFSAC Accredited
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification
- Minimum 2–3 years of firefighting experience
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP; advanced driving skills advantageous
- Medically and physically fit
- Knowledge of fire prevention procedures and fire-fighting systems
- Clear criminal record
- Hazmat experience and knowledge essential
- EMT certification and First Aid levels 1–3
Core Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Sound understanding of Hazmat guidelines and safety protocols
- Knowledge of security industry practices and regulatory compliance
- Ability to train and mentor junior firefighters
- Effective administration, interpersonal communication, and customer liaison skills
- Ability to respond efficiently under pressure during emergency situations
