Job Description
The Signal Management Technician will address complex alarm system challenges, applying technical expertise to deliver optimal solutions tailored to each customer’s needs. This role requires hands-on problem solving, customer consultation, and precise system implementation to ensure maximum performance and protection.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- PSIRA registration
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- 3 to 5 years of technical experience in alarm systems
- Strong fault-finding skills, including experience with IDS and DSC alarm panels
- Matrix from a Technical High School preferred
- Tertiary qualification in Electronics or Electronic Engineering preferred
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement
- Consult with customers to understand their requirements for alarm system performance and protection
- Evaluate existing systems to identify shortcomings and causes of false alarms
- Develop and present solutions that reduce false alarms while meeting customer needs
- Provide guidance on new technologies or equipment to enhance existing systems
- Agree on solutions and next steps with the customer
Administration
- Complete all documentation accurately and professionally
- Maintain punctuality and reliability for all customer appointments
- Provide detailed written quotations explaining required actions and their importance
- Manage stock and inventory accurately
Solutions Implementation
- Implement agreed-upon solutions following customer approval
- Uphold service standards, including:
- Testing signals and batteries on every site
- Accurate fault finding and wiring
- Correct programming and equipment placement
- Proper charging without over or undercharging
- Ensure customer satisfaction until false alarm issues are fully resolved
General Duties
- Handle classified information with discretion
- Develop case studies for technician training
- Coach and mentor junior technicians and assistants
- Support coordinators to provide detailed technical information for site visits
