Job Overview
Affinity Life Limited is seeking a skilled Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial Valuations team. This role supports financial reporting, reserving, capital monitoring, and strategic decision-making, while contributing to the management and development of the data assets that underpin actuarial analysis. Key Responsibilities
Valuations and Reporting

Assist in calculating technical provisions and preparing internal valuation reports

Contribute to documentation of actuarial assumptions and methodologies

Support experience investigations, assumption setting, and reserve movement analysis

Assist with regulatory submissions and statutory returns (QRT, ORSA)
Actuarial Data Management

Maintain and enhance the actuarial data warehouse
-
Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across datasets
-
Analyse large datasets to identify trends and anomalies

Create and monitor data validation metrics

Build and maintain extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes from core business systems
Modelling and Analysis

Work with actuarial models to produce forecasts, stress tests, and scenario analyses

Maintain and update models used for reserving and forecasting

Provide analytical support for product reviews, business planning, and risk-based assessments

Analyse the financial impact of business decisions, product changes, or external events
Communication and Collaboration

Present results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and committees
-
Liaise with finance, auditors, external actuarial functions, risk, and business operations to align data and reporting
Candidate Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field (SAQA-accredited)

Progress toward actuarial qualification with ASSA or other recognised actuarial body (exemptions or subjects passed)
Experience
-
Minimum 2 years’ actuarial work experience in life insurance, including financial reporting and valuations

Exposure to SAM, IFRS 17, or other regulatory frameworks is preferred
Skills and Competencies

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Proficient in Excel, SQL, and actuarial modelling using R or Python

Excellent organisational and project management skills
