We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Blockman to join our Butchery team. This role involves preparing and processing meat products while ensuring high standards of quality, hygiene, and customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Customer-minded with strong teamwork skills
• Good communication skills with the ability to listen and respond appropriately
• Physical ability to lift carcasses and meat containers
• Ability to work in a cold environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw, safely and efficiently
• Report defective equipment or utensils to the Butchery Manager
• Control, merchandise, and promote stock according to laid-down procedures and standards
• Prepare and break down meat carcasses according to specifications
• Debone cuts of meat and manufacture mince, sausages, and boerewors
• Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages
• Check temperatures and monitor/maintain the cold chain
• Provide courteous and professional customer service
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of butchery equipment and utensils
• Assist with receiving meat deliveries from suppliers
• Support training of staff on new products and lines
• Comply with medical criteria required by the OHS Act for Butchery

Additional Requirements:

• All applicants must successfully complete numeracy screening assessments
• Ability to cut, manufacture, and produce various meat products, such as loin chops and roasts (skills will be tested)
