Job Description
The Cadet (Level 1) will participate in a structured and comprehensive pilot training programme designed to develop competent, safety-focused flight crew members. The role requires full commitment to training activities, continuous learning, and adherence to FlySafair’s operational and safety standards, with the objective of progressing to First Officer status.
Key Responsibilities

Actively participate in all elements of the cadet training programme, including ground school, simulator sessions, and flight training

Build and demonstrate proficiency in aviation theory, aircraft systems, and operational procedures
-
Develop strong situational awareness, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in varied operational environments

Maintain the highest standards of safety and ensure compliance with aviation regulations, company policies, and SOPs
-
Demonstrate professionalism, discipline, teamwork, and a positive safety culture at all times
-
Maintain accurate training records and complete all assessments as required
-
Engage in continuous self-study to meet and exceed training standards
-
Attend all briefings, debriefings, feedback sessions, and performance reviews
-
Observe, learn, and apply company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Progressively build technical knowledge, operational competence, and flight skills
-
Actively seek feedback and apply learning to improve performance
-
Progress from Cadet to qualified First Officer in line with FlySafair training and competency requirements
Job Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Valid Commercial Pilot Licence
-
Valid Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
-
Valid Class I Medical
-
Minimum of 200 total flying hours, including at least 10 Multi-Engine Piston (PIC) hours
-
No existing medical conditions
-
Willingness to sign applicable training bonds, including a 7-year training bond
-
No criminal record
-
Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing
-
Valid RSA driver’s licence and own transport
-
South African citizen with proof of identity
-
Valid South African passport
-
Good understanding of the aviation industry
-
Knowledge of SACAA regulations
-
Understanding of high-speed aerodynamics, aircraft technical, and general aviation concepts
-
Knowledge of South African weather systems and meteorological phenomena
-
Sound knowledge of ATNS radiotelephony procedures
-
Excellent understanding of IFR procedures
