About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ Head Office in Midrand is seeking a Category Buyer to join the procurement team. The role focuses on managing suppliers, trading terms, product selection, planning, stock management, and driving category turnover and profitability.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Accounting
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Category Buying
• Degree or Diploma in Finance, Retail Management, or related field
• SAP BI and Qlikview experience
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Key Responsibilities

• Implement strategies to improve category profitability.
• Analyse consumer buying patterns to predict trends and select profitable product ranges.
• Manage plans to maintain optimal stock levels at all times.
• Develop and adhere to category plans including sales, profit, market share, second stock returns, and ROCE.
• Formulate marketing plans aligned with overall company strategy.
• Develop category pricing and promotion strategies that meet customer needs and remain competitive.
• Evaluate product quality using customer feedback.
• Report on category performance monthly.
• Develop yearly category operating strategies aligned with strategic objectives.
• Compile reports on product sales, quality, and customer feedback.
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products.
• Negotiate prices and delivery contracts with suppliers.
• Review supplier contracts to ensure validity and alignment with industry standards and best practices.
