About the Role
Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to manage and operate a Primary Health Care Clinic within their Corporate Clinic in Ceres. This role ensures high-quality patient care while maintaining a profitable clinic, practicing within the scope of a registered nursing practitioner.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Advantageous:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Primary Health Care
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Operations:
- Perform duties in line with industry regulations and best practices
- Set clinic objectives and manage patient flow to optimize service
- Ensure all clinic services are available and operational
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure follow-up communication
- Keep the clinic open and operational during scheduled hours
- Process claims accurately and promptly
- Maintain clinic stock and equipment in proper working order and adequate supply
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare partners
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge of community health, primary and occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD insertion, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
- Participation in quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
- Understanding of financial implications of meeting clinic targets
- Analytical skills to review clinic statistics and commissions
- Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, honesty, and trustworthiness
- Ability to manage self and team; self-directed and motivated
- Effective time management
Advantageous:
- Bilingual proficiency
- Knowledge of business objectives
- Completion of courses such as Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management
Special Conditions of Employment:
