Forklift Technician – value logistics

Purpose of the Job

The Forklift Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of forklifts and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role includes diagnosing faults, performing mechanical repairs, assembling components, maintaining tools and workstations, and ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect forklifts and related equipment to identify defects before repairs
• Diagnose mechanical and system failures and determine appropriate repair actions
• Compile detailed technical reports outlining required repairs
• Identify and list required spare parts for each repair job
• Strip, repair, and reassemble forklift components according to specifications
• Clean, assess, and evaluate parts for wear, damage, and usability
• Assemble components using new and approved used parts where applicable
• Record all findings, tasks performed, spares used, and time spent on job cards
• Service and repair equipment in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and maintenance schedules
• Perform standby and after-hours breakdown duties when required
• Maintain high productivity and efficiency standards
• Support, guide, and train repair assistants and semi-skilled team members
• Report unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to supervisors or workshop management
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures at all times
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, tools, and workshop environment
• Uphold professional conduct and company dress code requirements
• Comply with all Health and Safety regulations and standards
• Assist with operational duties as required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of relevant experience (advantageous)
