Forklift Technician – Value Logistics

Purpose of the Job
The Forklift Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on forklifts and related warehouse equipment. This includes stripping and assembling components, cleaning and assessing parts, maintaining tools and workstations, and ensuring all repairs meet operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle & Component Maintenance

• Inspect forklifts for general defects before commencing repairs
• Compile technical reports detailing the scope of repairs required
• List and request spare parts needed for repairs
• Strip forklift components and assess for wear or damage
• Clean, prepare, and assemble components using new or refurbished parts
• Identify system failures, consult with the team leader or workshop foreman, and record findings on the job card
• Service and repair forklifts according to OE specifications and maintenance schedules

Operational Duties

• Record all tasks performed, spares used, and time taken on the job card
• Perform standby and after-hour breakdown support when required
• Maintain productivity and efficiency standards
• Train, guide, and monitor repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans
• Report unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to team leaders or workshop foremen
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures in all activities
• Assist in relevant operational functions as required

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean and organised workstation and tools
• Follow all Health and Safety regulations and company protocols
• Ensure proper dress code and PPE are worn at all times
• Uphold professional conduct and workplace discipline

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of related experience is advantageous
